The Solid Rock
My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ, my righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus? name. On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand; all other ground is sinking sand.?
Recognize that song??
If so, have you ever studied the lyrics??
Edward Mote wrote them in 1834 and they are still relevant today.
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus? name.?
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
This morning I woke up humming this song. I went for my daily dog walk and this song kept going through my mind. After the walk, I went into my office and pulled up the lyrics and meditated on them all day.?
I did a quick Google search for ?Christ the Solid Rock? thinking that was the name of the hymn. I discovered that the hymn is actually entitled ?My Hope is Built on Nothing Less?. I love it when I learn something new.?
I find old hymns to be very powerful and this hymn has stood the test of time. It is also relevant today.
As I sat down to write this devotional on hope, I began to think of where I would be if I did not have Jesus as my hope and firm foundation. Have you ever looked at your life and can clearly see the Hand of God present even in the midst of your poor choices??
I thought about the times that the darkness of my choices veiled His lovely face and I am amazed at His continual grace. The longer I walk with Him, I know that in every storm I encounter I am anchored in Him.?
How wonderful it is to know that His oath, His covenant, and His blood, support me in the overwhelming flood; when all around my soul gives way, He is all my hope and my stay.
I know that He is my righteousness alone and I will stand, faultless before the throne. My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ, my righteousness.
May the God of hope fill you with ALL joy and peace in believing that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.? Today let us rest our hope fully upon the grace that is found in the revelation of Jesus Christ. (Romans 15:13, 1 Peter 1:13)
Meditate on this hymn today and remember all that He has done for you.

Please share your testimony with me, I love testimonies! We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony. (Revelation 12:11)
If you have not yet begun your personal relationship with God, understand that the One who created you loves you no matter who you are or what you?ve done.
You can tell Him in your own words or use this simple prayer:
Lord Jesus, I ask You to forgive my sins and save me from eternal separation from God. By faith, I accept Your work and death on the cross as sufficient payment for my sins. Thank You for providing the way for me to know You and to have a relationship with my Heavenly Father. Through faith in You, I have eternal life. Jesus, I want YOU as Lord of my life! Thank You also for hearing my prayers and loving me unconditionally.
In Jesus? name, amen.
Jesus Christ provides a relationship with the Father and eternal life through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead (Romans. 5:10).
In Romans 10:9, the Word promises, ?If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.?
